Race Factors

Factor Description
Class

Comparison of the class of the race of the current race to the average class rating of the previous races run by the horse. A rating of over 100 indicates a step down on class, a rating less than 100 indicate a step up in class.

Distance

This is the distance a horse is used to running compared to the distance of the current race.

Post Position

This represents the statistical advantage or disadvantage of the post position, based on a scale of 100.

Purse

Comparison of the purse of the current race to the average purse of the races in which the horse has run. This is an indicator of the class of the horse.

Weight

This compares the weight this horse is carrying to the field. The closer to 100, the bigger the advantage.

Factor Description
Average Finish

Represents how many lengths behind the winner the horse has finished in past races. A value of 100 indicates the horse always is zero lengths behind the winner.

Average Finish (Weighted)

This is the Average Finish of previous races weighted by how long ago each previous race was run.

Horses Passed

This is rating of how many other horses in the race this horse passed during previous races.

Horses Passed (Weighted)

This is the same as Horse Passed rating adjusted for how long ago each previous race was run.

Lengths Gained

This represents how many lengths the horse gained during previous races.

Lengths Gained (Weighted)

This is the same as Lengths Gained rating adjusted for how long ago each previous race was run.

Workout Factors

Factor Description
Average Time (Fast)

This is a statistical analysis of the percentage of horses that have slower workouts than this horse. The closer to 100, the faster this horse is compared to all other horses for workouts on a fast track.

Average Time (Off)

This is the same as the Average Time factor using only workout on an off track.

Dist. Weighted Time (Fast)

This is the average time of the workout using 12 seconds per furlong as a standard, weighted by distance of previous workouts on a fast track.

Dist. Weighted Time (Off)

This is the average time of the workout using 12 seconds per furlong as a standard, weighted by distance of previous workouts on an off-track.

Number of Bullets

This is the percentage of the workouts which are bullet works. (Bullet works are the fastest workout for a specific distance at a specific track on a specific day.

Number of Workouts

Total number of workouts; a maximum of 12 are considered.
